This impressive gallery represents many years of work and a variety
of media. Incredibly, just two artists are responsible for this
productivity, and essentially, only one of them has produced the
extraordinary bulk of the work. His name is Donn DeVita. Originally
from New York, Donn and his late wife, marine painter Nancy Harrison
DeVita moved to Cape Cod in 1965. Along with painting, silk screening,
producing and framing his hand-colored lithographs and running a
gallery, DeVita taught art for 25 years. His art has been acclaimed and
exhibited throughout the world. His work has been recognized by
numerous awards and hangs on all continents except Antarctica, Donn's
paintings and drawings show exciting techniques, unusual to the world
of picture making. His multi-stylistic works which include watercolors,
oils, acrylics, and pastels, as well as the prints of Nancy's paintings of
Shiverick built clipper ships are displayed in his landmark building
Worden Hall. Built in 1865, the gallery was once a social hall for village
residents and then later the home of a men's society called the Redmen's
Hall. Recently, DeVita has added a mezzanine to provide more space for
his original works and newly made lithographs and notecards.
We are open 11am-5pm daily (EST). Thanks for visiting.
