DAYS END
In Sesuit Harbor one foggy afternoon, I could hear only the slap of a pair of oars on a still sea. Suddendly, through the fog laidend waters emerged an isolated fisherman methodically rowing toward home. His oneness in the vast sea of fog was punctuated by his orange life vest and yellow hat, a startling focal point in the midst of the boundless expanse of soft grey. It is this special moment I have tried to capture.

SOUTH SHORE
A hodgepodge of texture and color woven into an exciting orchestration of design meets your eyes when you see the south shore marina for the first time. It required impasto painting to fully realize the textural sensation felt through hours of observation. To create a textural effect a palette knife was employed to apply the paint that lent itself successfully to the completion of this painting.

SEA STREET BEACH
For generations many families of feet have dashed through this special path in the sand dune down to the beach and into the water. In September a dramatic change seems to occur overnight. A soft wistful quietness pervades Sea Street Beach altered only by the tides that continue to wash away summer's footprints over and over again.

WING ISLAND
Traversing Cold Storage Beach and Sea Street Beach east to the point of rocks, one has a good view of Brewster and its environs. It was on one of these treks I saw a vintage catboat emerge from a tidal marsh area in Brewster and sail west toward Sesuit Harbor.

COLD STORAGE BEACH
Often I would go to Cold Storage Beach at night and look fascinated at the panorama of Cape Cod Bay. The flickering lights from small craft and Provincetown pepper the horizon like fire flies in flight. The moon often bathes the area with a variety of diffused reflected light. This particular night it was a luminous jade green. Many hours were spent before satisfactory results were achieved

Preparation for my ship portraits often took me around Sesuit Harbor and its outer reaches for inspiration and contemplation. On one of these ambulations I began to collect local flora. The nest was found firmly woven into the flowerhead of the majestic Emperor Goldenrod, which is the variety often seen in the seaside dunes.
